Can you spray paint windows?

The most common question we get asked by people is can you paint UPVC windows? The quick and simple answer is yes, you can paint UPVC windows and doors. For lots of homeowners, the swift way of adding some extra curb appeal to their homes is by adding a new paint colour.

Don’t paint new UPVC windows.

If you are thinking of going ahead and having them painted then the first thing we would check is when the windows were fitted. If they have been fitted in the last 12 months then we would not attempt to paint them. This is because when they are manufactured, an extra layer of plastic is added to the UPVC to give that shiny effect and this is not a surface you can paint on.

Why do people paint UPVC window frames?

UPVC is a hard-wearing product and yet it is extremely affordable which makes it a popular choice in the UK. It is also durable, easy to clean and stylish which adds to its reasons for being used. Styles and preferences change every few years e.g. dark grey is a very desired choice at the moment and it is not always viable to keep up with colour changes by installing new windows so painting them makes sense. For example, if you have painted your house or just had your roof done then it may not match the colour of your existing windows, this is where painting them is a perfect solution.

Choosing paint for your UPVC windows

If you are planning on spraying your windows yourself then you can buy spray paints from over the counter but we advise against this as it is not as simple as it sounds and it should be left to a team like our UPVC spraying South Wales professionals. You can hand brush your window frames but this takes so much longer and although using a brush allows you to get into all the crevices it does not give you as even a coat as it would if you had spray painted it. It can also leave brush marks which don't look particularly nice once it's dried.

Can you paint your UPVC door?

The front door is usually the first thing anyone sees close up as they visit your house so it should really stand out. Painting your front door is the same process as painting your windows, clean it, prep it, choose the colour of paint and you are away to go. Nobody will realise that it is the same door just with a new fresh look once it has been done and there is no other better and cheaper way of giving your house a fresh look than painting some key areas such as your windows and doors.

How much does spray painting cost?

These are just UPVC spraying cost guidelines as every job is different and it can depend on a range of things from colour to location but you should expect to pay roughly £100 per window depending on the size of it and number of openings. Bay windows cost more as there is more UPVC to spray and more work in general and some small windows can cost as low as £50 but to find out a more accurate price, please give us a call or fill out a quote form on our website.
